I’m traveling around the UK and Ireland and today we stopped in for a pint at The Crown Saloon in Belfast. I’d read about this particular pub ahead of time. Mentioned was the elaborate ceiling and that it was one of the oldest pubs in the area.
Nowhere mentioned was the fact that it has ‘Snugs’. They are tiny, intimate compartments where one sits with friends in semi privacy to enjoy a beverage. “Designed to let ladies of high society have a drink.” They remind me of the private seating areas in some of the churches in Europe. I’ve never seen these in the U.S. but I love the idea of gathering with friends in our very own Snug.
I hope you go out to the giants causeway while you’re up there. It’s beautiful. The story is fun too. Black cab tour is interesting. You’ll learn LOTS about the troubles and how they still persist today
Come back to Rome - we can meet in a Snug at The Scholars Lounge Irish Pub and then amble down to the nearby Feltrinelli bookstore!
